Firefox is far more configurable and in many peoples minds (60+% of my Computer Engineering class) is far more secure. Firefox supports many different Add-ons to enhance a users experience that IE7 just doesn't have. In addtion Firefox doesn't allow activeX scripts to be executed, which helps prevent security compromises. There is actually a add-on to FireFox to use the IE rendering engine with in Firefox to display pages; just in case a web site doesn't follow the W3 standards or needs activeX.
