Almost everybody around the world already has an access to the web, we are definitely in a stage where information is but a click away. And because of that, companies have taken over the web. Where and when did advertising online really start? What do you think is the first product ever advertised online in mass?

I heard that it began around early 90’s. I don’t know if this is really true, this only based on what I heard. Better wait for some expert to see this thread.

Yeah I too heard that it started in 90's but not so sure as to whether it is true or not. I was in my college when I got to check out this info but not sure how far it is true.

As far as I know it was sometime around the late 1990s before the whole DotCom bubble burst and everyone swooped in on the financial possibilities of the internet. It's still considered a relatively 'new' industry for now though but more and more people are catching on constantly and finding new ways to exploit internet advertising.
