The Collection API is a set of classes and interfaces that support operation on collections of objects. These classes and interfaces are more flexible, more powerful, and more regular than the vectors, arrays, and hashtables if effectively replaces.

Aa Collection API is available for manipulating collections directly. Available on both the interactive and compute nodes, the API supports all three collection types and has been exposed in order to allow users to manipulate collections at will. The Collection API is used by the Default framework to manage collections during jobs, and users can access the same functionality. This API allows users to easily manifest and save collections as files in their home directories, and the API can be incorporated into more sophisticated frameworks.
