Default .net versus java

hi everyone..i am a medical student on the verge of completing my undergraduation..can anyone help me regarding which language to learn.. I want a language that would allow me to 1) programme web applications 2) programme my own computer..something akin to windows hooks..or maybe it is called background running 3)programme my mobile.Nothing advanced, just the very basics.. just for fun

I am intending to buy a new mobile and so would appreciate if someone guided me which one to buy so as to enable me to programme it..

I have done C and a bit of visual C++...the basics..also how much time it would take to learn it if you allott daily two hours to it.

any idea about microsoft e learning programme or any suitable way of learning..

Thumbs up Re: .net versus java

hey,

For developing a web application i prefer .Net Framework than any other language. .Net is userfriendly You can learn very quickly as you know the basics of c and VC++.

At the same time you have mobile devlopment application in .Net Framework with which you can create mobile application very easily.

Before you read MicroSoft e learning programme have a look at..
W3Schools Online Web Tutorials its best way to learn basics.

Cheers,

Hi,
I suggest u to prefer Dot Net than java.. Because we can learn easily and also can do fastly... As Venkat said, We can create mobile application using Dotnet..
Not only that we can choose language either C# or vb or j# as codebehind, but not like that in java

Hope u get idea about Dotnet...

thanks very much..am reasonably good at c but not at vc++...regarding what i want to do i think i can better explain it with an example..say i want to create a programme that alters the way the computer works.. say on left click of the mouse it does what i have programmed it to do.. not only while that particular application is running but in other applications also..regarding mobile applications i would like to create applications like say an alarm that snoozes after a time i have specified, a calendar that can be programmed and so on.. regarding the mobile, i will buy a mobile that will allow me to programme it.. say if i am learning .net then will buy a mobile that will run such applications.. though i have not the faintest idea which mobile supports it..will surely seek your guidance when i embark on my journey...

Hi,

Its Interesting a medical student showing his interest on learning computer & programming languages, specially mobile application development.

Let me know you the current mobile application development platforms.

1. Symbian Application Development. (symbian vc++)
2. Java Based Mobile Application Development. (J2ME)
3. Windows Based Mobile Application Development (.Net Compact Framework,
VC++)

These are the three major mobile application development platforms.

RE : Symbian Application Development.

Pure Native coding VC++, bit hard to learn and develop. But able to program anything. Nokia SDK's , SonyEricson SDK's are available to program for the specific devices.

RE: Java Based Mobile Application Development:

Pure JAVA. The application developed in J2ME can able to run in any java enabled mobile devices. Today most of the mobile devices in market are java enabled. Very easy to learn if you are good in core java.

RE: Windows Mobile Application Development.

Purely Windows Technology. you can use, C#, VB, J#, VC++ to program windows mobile. All you need is basic programming knowledge and the SDK's & Tools. As KingMaker said, the O2 Xda Atom Exec model is good to test your windows mobile applications. This mobile is powered with Windows Mobile 5.0 and .Net Compact Framwork 1.0.

All the above technologies have its own power and market. Remains is yours to select what platform u are going to learn.

And Regards Web & Windows application development Best one is .Net. That to a C# track.

Hope Useful to you.

yes, It requires windows mobile. If you want to develop applications for Nokia, Sony models, J2ME is the best solution. all the major phones now avilable in the market are java enabled mobiles.
