When you start your classes they will actually give you the list of programs and books you need. I would howver suggest (learning from experience) that you hold onto those books as they will be helpful in the future. I still use mine but I took the classes along time ago so they are probably using new ones now. Buying used books however will save you some money.

If your professor also gave you a list of books to use, you can try searching for them on ebay or yahoo auction. Computer books are really expensive. You can just buy a slightly used one. Ebay has a lot of these. I bought most of my books there and I was able to save a lot.

you have four years experience in teaching.

It is better to concentrate in software engineering.

Try to collect material regarding project analysis.
But it is better to concentrate on Object Oriented Programming analysis.
If you make yourself in this type of analysis it would gretaer strength in your career which might help you lot in handling projects of any type.

So concentrate on OOP's anlysis.

I always advise reading two books at once.

Try to get one as a 'For Dummies' book. Get it to hold your hand throughout the whole thing. Also, get a very technical book. When the For Dummies book stops making sense, pick up the technical book and read the issue you're confused about.

Also, skimming over the technical book once (not the whole thing, maybe 3 chapters, just skimming lightly), before the For Dummies book can work wonders.
