Default got a new comp

Well, after planning on my first build, my mom went out and bought a seminew computer (referbished). (I'm 17 btw, to clarify) She feels that I am not qualified to build my own computer since I havnt done it before and thats why she went and bought one. She got it at fry's, and it has....

intel quad q6600
advertizes viiv w/e that is
2 gb ddr2667
400 gb hdd
geforce 7950
+other standard stuff you know

$800 for that above
+5 yr prot plan $190
+1gb more she bought extra for $26
+geforce 8600 gt $118
+thermaltake 500 wat ps $70
total: $1204 before tax

I dont want to settle on this, and I am currently trying to get a friend to agree to help me build a computer so we can return this. If by chance I cant return it though, will this be an OK computer?

Well... Thinking about the complexities you have to get thru in returning the current PC and then assembling a new one, I would suggest sticking on to the current one for some time until your mom is confident in you of self assembling a PC on your own, which may be like in the next 2 years

I don’t think that building another one is a wise decision. You should include the fact that you already have one. You can use the money on something else, as the other guy already said you might want to replace your computer in about two years.

I just want to add that computer usefulness is dependent upon the user itself. If you are just going to used it for the internet and typing, it would be best to save your money on something else. If you are a programmer then I would suggest that you upgrade your computer every two years.
