Have they been overwritten or just deleted?. If deleted then the Dos Undelete function might work (you don't say what Dos Ver you are using but I presume 6.22). If actually overwritten then a vastly expensive pc forensic prog might work but is it worth the price?

Windows 3.1 provides a GUI for the Undelete utility; in the File Manager, it's the last button in the row of buttons on the top. It will tell you what files are available for undeleting and in what condition they're in. If the condition is "Excellent" you'll probably get most if not all of your file back intact; if the condition is "Good" you might only get a piece here and a piece there. Anything less than "Good" is probably not worth recovering unless it was REALLY crucial data, and of course it's impossible to recover "Destroyed" files because they've already been totally overwritten.

There is a theory that says overwritten ones and zeros can be identified by a read head 20 times more sensitive than the original read head and thus there is a possiblity of recovering if the pattern of the over written data is known..

This is just a theory and no one have proven it completely...

So as of now, we may assume overwritten data is lost for ever.....
