SQL Server Setup could not run. Another instance of SQL Server Setup


HI,

please this is the configuration of my developement machine on which i want to install Sql server 2005 Developer.

-Xp professional SP3

-Sql Server 2000

-Visual Studio 2008

-Sql Express 2005

want i try to install my Sql server 2005 Developement i get the following error:

"SQl server setup could not run .Another instance of Sql Server Setup is already running. The running instance must complete before you can run Sql Server Setup"

i stopped all the MS Sql services and install but is still send the same error.

Hi,

Usually this message is not caused by a SQL Server instance running, but by another SQL Setup process which is still running.

The easiest way to approach this is usually to reboot the server and then try again.

Try the following steps..


Remove Visual Studio 2008 and then install sql 2005 developer and then install visual studio 2008.

i was able to install the standard edition fine but it didn't install the SSMS.Not error during the installation:

-Database service

-notification service

-integration Service

All installed well, but still no SSMs what could be the cause?
