Hi my name is Marie. I'm looking to buy a laptop for home with a budget of about £1000 max. I am wanting something thats ideal for surfing internet, downloading stuff, using webcams, using microsoft packages, and playing some games. Can anyone recommend which is the best make/model laptop? I would always suggest IBM ThinkPad .. the most sturdy laptop ive ever come across. However IBM ThinkPad is preferred by professionals for full time work. If you want a multi purpose laptop for both work and fun, i would suggest IBM Lenovo. But just go for IBM...although a bit pricey..its the best...

Actually IBM is not the best brand. They are expensive but not worth it. I've tested dozens of laptops and the best are the HP/Compaq Presario series and the Acer Ferrari series.
