How to install a MIDlet onto Motorola Linux OS phones?

You can download MIDlets through the USB connection or via Bluetooth to Motorola Linux OS phones (for example: Z6, V8).

Please refer to the following steps to install a MIDlet via the USB cable:

1. On the phone, go to Main menu->settings->connection->usb settings, change mode to "Mass Storage"
2. If the phone supports memory card slot, insert a miniSD card. Or if the phone does not support memory card slot, it will use the phone's internal memory to copy your MIDlets.
3. Connect the phone to the USB cable.
4. On the PC, copy the .jar and .jad file to the new mass storage drive that should appear. If here is no new drive appears, please use bluetooth instead below to transfer MIDlets.
5. Disconnect the phone from USB
6. Go to Main menu->Office Tools->File manager (this menu is not always in the same location depending on customer or operator configuration).
7. In file manager, navigate to the newly downloaded files and "click" on the .jad file
8. Answer the prompts (signature verification etc).
9. Done, you're now ready to run your application.

Please refer to the following steps to transfer MIDlets via bluetooth.

1. On the phone: Main menu->Bluetooth->Discovery on 3 minutes
2. On your PC, search Bluetooth devices to find your phone and pair your device with your PC,
3. On your PC, after pairing open your phone->Open the "Obex File Transfer" then copy the jad and jar file to the folders it lists.
4. On your phone go to Main menu->My favorites or the File Manager to find your jad and jar files that were just copied.
