| I have the very latest version of Microsoft Office at work. The Word processing program saves files in a new format called .DOCX. This format is unlike anything. If I open a file in this format in a flat text reader it looks like garbage. I cannot even see the text that I typed. It is or seems to be encrypted. So if I write something at work and I send the file home, I cannot open it and work on it some more. Does anyone know of any sort of conversion routine for a .DOCX file? I tried TextPad but it was complete garbage. I tried OpenOffice and it was just as bad. I tried an earlier version of Microsoft Word and there were page breaks and XML instructions but none of the text that I had written could be seen in the file. |

| Hi, It seems in your office you are using OFFICE 2007 whereas in your home you could be using a lower version of MS OFFICE... So here's what you can do, while saving files from your office, Save it as .DOC file, because the default format for OFFICE 2007 is .DOCX, which will not open properly in the lower version.. So Click "Save As" and save it as .DOC file, which could be opened and worked from your home... Hope this Helps!!! Thanks Shiva...

| Decoy, When you click save then pop up window open choose word 97-2003 in file save as type and saved in corresponding folder and it can be opened in the lower version. Another solution If you want to convert .DOCX file format to .DOC. Go to media converter site there u select your current file and convert into required format. |
