| I have been using a desktop forever. My last recent purchase was another desktop, even though I wanted a laptop so bad because of my job. I needed to be around a computer 24-7 and I wanted to be able to leave the house, Well, the desktop had more of the features that I needed at a price I could afford. Then, what do you know, my job sent me a laptop to use!! Very cool! |

| I guess your job know what you needed. lol I have both a desktop and laptop. But, I only like using my laptop when I'm on the road or when someone eles is on the two desktops. My laptop has everthing my desktop has. But its good to see you got your laptop. Will they make you turn it in when you quit? ![]() |

| I have a desktop that I use all the time and a laptop which I bought just last year and use a lot, too. I also still have my first computer, which still works but is very rarely needed. |

| I would say that unless you need something that only comes in a desktop (like massive graphic rendering capabilities for playing games, or the ability to drive multiple huge screens or something), then the laptop is the way to go. I have had laptops constantly since about 1993, and I commonly use them as my desktop machine at work as well. It's easy enough to hook up to external screens, keyboards, and mice. And then it's basically no different than a desktop. Pete

| That's a good point, Reverend. I need my desktop to run my audio and MIDI recording software and to host my VST software, which simulates virtual musical instruments. The audio files tend to be large, and the CPU requirements can be challenging, although I suppose laptop CPU has come a long way recently, too. |

| Yeah, Taggart. You may fall into the category of users that benefit from having a desktop, because you can have a built-in multi-channel sound card, multiple internal storage drives, etc. And in general, if you require the most processing power possible, you're going to be best of with a desktop, because even though they the mobile processors are really good, they're still scaled down somewhat because they need lower power consumption and lower heat output than a desktop processor.
