Default Video Players

It seems that different phones that has a video capability uses different types of softwares as some are mp4 and others are mpg and so on. I think it is best that all mobile companies should have a universal standard of platform to use for videos on mobile phone. What do you think?

Thumbs up Re: Video Players

There are lot of video formats available nowadays. But the International Organization for Standardization has approved the MPEG(series) is the global multimedia standard, delivering professional-quality audio and video streams over a wide range of bandwidths, from cell phone to broadband and beyond.

A video format describes how one device sends a video pictures to another device, such as the way that a DVD player sends pictures to a television, or a computer to a monitor. More formally, the video format describes the sequence and structure of frames that create the moving video image.

MPEG-4 was defined by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG), the working group within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that specified the widely adopted.

Hundreds of researchers around the world contributed to MPEG-4, which was finalized in 1998 and became an international standard in 2000 and included in QuickTime in 2002.

thanks
