Question Backup SMS from PocketPc 2003, 5.0, 6.0

Hi,

I'm trying to create a SMS backup/restore functionality using mapi, but I'm having problems restoring the PR_SENDER_NAME, it just doesn't get set. All the other properties all restored correctly.

I found the following statement from the MSDN

The PR_SENDER_NAME property is one of the address properties for the message sender. It must be set by the outgoing transport provider, which should never propagate any previously existing values.

Anyone know how to set the PR_SENDER_NAME property to a message in the SMS Inbox?

This the beginning of your problems!!! You'll see dependency on device as you go on implementing the project on different devices. Why not try mapirule to get the details of any SMS that comes in (check wce500\Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC SDK\Samples\CPP\Win32\Mapirule folder plz)? Do not forget to change the default class-id before you start using it!

Hi Sandhya,

Welcome to Discuss Web.

The mapirule sample is for reading incoming sms.

What I'm trying to do is to restore backupped messages to the inbox. I have no problems reading all messages from the sms inbox, but when restoring I can't set the sender name. So I add a new message to inbox, set all the values and all of them gets properly set, except for the sender name...

Thanks Sandhya
