| Torrents are now one of the most popular methods of P2P file sharing and most internet users utilize the torrent system to download or share large files such as a the ISO of a new version DVD of some free Linux. I have been using different torrent clients for quite a while and I consider µTorrent as the best torrent client. It is fast, it is robust, takes up little resources (other than network). So do everyone agrees with this ? I would like to to know which torrent client does people like and why.... |

It is done using Java and that means you can use it for both Windows and Linux. And I think Azureus is faster than uTorrent. |

| Azureus is a good torrent client as it is developed in Java. But I think that is one of it's weakness too. You see, when Azureus is loaded into memory it occupies much resources as it runs on top of the JVM, And as we all know java applications are notorious to be slow and resource hungry. And by no way Azureus is faster than utorrent. I have tested the speeds myself and never found Azureus downloading faster than uTorrent. |

But I prefer Linux and I use Linux for P2P sharing. I wonder how could you use windows for weeks of continous downloads as it is such an unstable OS. |

| I dont think that's true.. I am using Windows XP for downloading torrents for a long time and I have never faced an OS related issue with uTorrent. According to me, if the OS is configured properly and if you are not using all those unstable third party applications, Windows XP is as stable as any Linux and as we all know, Windows is much user friendly too.... |

| uTorrent has to be hands down the best. Long time BitComet, BitLord, and Azureus user. By now you shouldn't be using the orginal bitorrent client. Reasons why I say uTorrent is the best - takes up less than 5mbs of memory. As I am leeching 2 torrents and seeding 2 the program takes up 3.8mb of memory. BitComet requires atleast 60mb! - Almost no CPU usage. Not a resource HOG like Azureus means you can run this in the background with no problem. - Awsome neat and clean GUI. - Mulitple torrent orginization and useful stats not just a bunch of them like Azureus. - the program requires no installation you just download and run the file. The program is 105kB!!!! I have essays that take up more space ;p! |

| My problem with uTorrent is that after a couple of hours, it kills my internet connection for all programs except itself. It keeps on working, but my browser, ftp, email, etc cannot connect to the internet. When I reboot, all is fine again. Other than that, I love the program. |

| When you have a program like a torrent client throttled to upload at the maximum. Your other programs aren't going to be able to communicate with the net very easily (if at all). I have road runner and I get upload like 40kb/s total. Inside most torrent clients, you can throttle the maximum upload. I changed mine to 10kb/s. My download speeds jumped higher on my torrents and my other softwares (internet explorer, aim, yahoo, etc) they all worked like I wasn't downloading anything at all. If you want your share ratio to improve on a torrent site, re-up the maximum upload rate and walk away. When you come back, Internet explorer, etc will not find the 'net easy. Lower the max upload again and bam, it all works just fine and your torrent download speeds increase. It's amazing! BTW, lowering your upload rate will NOT affect your download speeds. |

| Hi.. I am also using uTorrent for downloading some iso files and i found this upload/download bandwidth limiting setting. I am not sure how much to give for these values. I am using a 512kbps DSL connection.. can anyone suggest me the correct values that I need to set for the fastest downloads ? |
