| There are certain measures that should always be taken to properly administrate a network. Networks are collection of computing devices joined together to perform similar tasks. In a networking Environment or Domain/ Client setup, users must always have restricted access to administrative privileges and resources. The security should be set in a way that only authenticated users should be able to access the network resources and data, Network Administrator should properly configure permissions on shared data on the network.

| Network administrator should train an assistant and the server room should not be left alone at any time. An authorized and responsible individual should be in the server room at any given time for proper network administration. The servers should not be accessed and configured directly. Instead a remote administration tool like Microsoft Terminal Client, SNMP or Telnet should be used for sever configuration. To access services on the servers, you would always use MMC (Microsoft Management Console) to enable and disable certain services.

| In a Client/ Server Environment, different rights should be assigned to different individuals. The enterprise Administrator password should be complex and frequently changed. Only Enterprise Administrator should have its password. For different other roles, like Backup Operators, Print Reporters and Domain Admins, different individuals should be made members of their respective groups.

| The Domain Controller must ways be backed up by proper software like Norton Ghost and an entire image should be stored on the hard disk for disaster recovery. The Administrator should make at least one additional domain controller containing replica of both DNS and DHCP servers to provide load balancing and fault tolerance. All the necessary security updates by the operating system manufacturer should always be installed on the system to avoid any dysfunctions.

| Server hardware should always be updated regularly to keep the inventory update. RAMs should be upgraded and Storage devices should be replaced to a avoid disasters in the network at all times. Good antivirus software should be updated regularly to avoid viruses in the network. These in general help to resolve Network issues and are the basis of good network administration.
