i have a type 4 dsl router of data one and i would like to use wifi for laptop .
how should i configure it to make it safe and to reduce leakage from the connection

hi.find ur ip first
open ur browser and type ur default gateway [192.168.1.1]in address bar
this will take u to a login screen
type user name: admin
type password: admin/1234/password
this will let u log on to the router
click on wifi/wireless tab
configure the ssid, channel(6), mode(g and b), security type(wep/wpa/none), and mac control settings and save it
now scan for the network from ur laptop and u shud c ur ssid popping up
connect to it and ur good to go wirelessly
