| Folder Redirection I am implementing folder redirection. I have a test OU setup and NOTHING being applied to that OU EXCEPT the GPO that tells the folder redirection where to create the folders. the folders are being created on a drive on my share server. The users login and the folders are created just fine. On the share server where the folder redirection (users information) is being held. As a domain admin (witch is in the administrators group on all there servers on my domain) I cannot browse out to the files. I can only go as far as into the folder that is created with the usersname. If i try to go into the Documents folder are favirates folder i get access denied. How is it that the domain admin cannot access these folders? This will also pose a problem when backing up! Any ideas? My Setup: Windows 2008 Server (File Server) Windows Vista PC (TEST BOX) Domain User :TEST User

| HI, Make sure in the folder redirection GPO: select clear the Grant the user exclusive rights to My Documents check box and then follow the guidelines below: 1)Log on as an administrator to the server that can host the user's redirected folders. 2)locate the top-level folder that can hold the user's redirected documents (for example, D:\Redirected, which is shared as \\Server\Redirected\) by using Windows Explorer. Right-click the folder, and then click Properties. 3)Click the Security tab. 4)Click Advanced. 5)Click to clear the Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here. check box. 6)When you are prompted to copy or remove permissions, click Remove. 7)If the Administrators group is not present, click Add, type Administrators, and then click OK. 8)Select the Administrators group, and then click Edit. 9)Verify that the Full Control permission is set to Allow, and then click OK. 10)Click Add, and add System and Creator Owner to the Permissions entries. 11)Verify that the System and Creator Owner objects have the Full Control / Allow permission. 12)Click Add, add Authenticated Users, and then set the following permissions to Allow: 13)Create Folders / Append Data a)Read Permissions b)Read Attributes c)Read Extended Attributes

| HI, Take ownership of the folder (Securirty, Advanced, Owner) and correct the permission..For future users, go to the main share and enable inheritance to propergat eto subfolders.. that way Admin will always have full control

| Hi, Ok, I took ownership of the files and i was able to gain access to the content actually inside the users folder. But when a new user logs in the folder redirection creates there folder on the SAN server but if i (domain admin) log onto the san server i cannot access the new new user folder without AGAIN taking ownership.

| Hi all, When i read this "Make sure in the folder redirection GPO: select clear the Grant the user exclusive rights to My Documents check box and then follow the guidelines below" I realized that was checked. Unchecking that fixed all my problems...
