Hi All,

you may have to manually remove the machine from the domain that it was previously connected to as the password policy looks to be domain specific.

You will need to have a look at the firewall posts at both ends as well as your machine. Also I would suggest looking at the Router support groups. Remote Desktop Port : 3389 this port need to open at router side

1) Open Internet Explorer, and enter the URL

http://ipaddressort/tsweb/.
For example, if your IP address is 192.168.1.120, and you chose the TCP Port 3389, you would enter the URL http://192.168.1.120:3389/tsweb/.

Hi Jsureshkumar,

If your processor support 64 bit go for it, it's will still emulate 32 bit software. If you have a 32 bit processor, you need the 32 bit version and can't use the 64 bit version.

Hi Jsureshkumar,

It you decide on 64-Bit vista, firstly make sure there are 64-bit drivers available for your PC.

Hi Jsuresh,

Go 32 bit if you dont want to lose some features. Not everything is the same in

the 64 bit version, and it lacks features

Hi All,

Oops, apparently that was XP I was reading about, m'bad.

But, if you're going for the 64 bit version, beware of many software problems. Go read customer reviews, to get a glance at what's it like

Hi,

Some bad points about 64 bit Vista.

1) Alot of hardware currently doesnt have 64 bit driver support.

2) If a driver is not properly "signed", it will not enter the kernal and won't load.

3) Not much 64-bit App's around at the current time.

4) Vista x64 doesn't have many backwards compatible drivers.

Hi All,

I haven't had any major problem with vista 64 bit drivers yet but not everything perfect. The only device that isn't supported for vista is my logitech webcam. Also Logitech doesn't have plan to make drivers for all webcam for vista. They have a list of webcam supported or not.

" If a driver is not properly "signed", it will not enter the kernal and won't load."

I have installed the free game track mania nation which installs the satanic and demoniac starforce drivers which caused a lot of problem with cddrive ... and when I reloaded vista. I had the message that the pc can't boot because of the not digital signed drivers. I simply boot in winxp and deleted the 3 .sys files and installed the starforce drivers compatible for vista on the starforce website for testing and it's worked.

thanks

Hi All,

I agree with most people complaining or waiting for service pack 1 and they are correct. Even if it's not perfect I like playing with it until then.

Thanks

Hi shaalini,

Did you convert your Windows NT hard drive to NTFS (NT File System) and now looking for a way to access it from MS-DOS, Windows 3.x or Windows 95? Believe it or not, there's a DOS program that will let you do just that -- it will read files on NTFS partitions from a DOS compatible operating system. This could come in handy for recovering files, if you're having trouble booting to the NTFS partition where Windows NT is installed.

Default Secure your Desktop Icons and Settings ?

Hi All,

You can save your desktop settings and secure it from your nerdy friend by playing with the registry. Simply launch the Registry Editor go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer

In the right pane create a new DWORD Value named NoSaveSettings and modify it's value to 1. Refresh and restart for the settings to get saved.

Default Cleaning Recent Docs Menu and the RUN MRU :

Hi All,

The Recent Docs menu can be easily disabled by editing the Registry. To do this go to the following Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now in the right pane, create a new DWORD value by the name: NoRecentDocsMenu and set it's value to 1. Restart Explorer to save the changes.

You can also clear the RUN MRU history. All the listings are stored in the key:

HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

You can delete individual listings or the entire listing. To delete History of Find listings go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU and delete.
