Hi Raj,

Forums are really designed for a community to get together and discuss/debate subject of a similar interest. Blogs were originally designed for press/news coverage, although smaller companies use them too.

Hi Raj,

This explaining the difference between a blog and a forum might come useful.
Quote:
* A blog is owned by just one person, or a small group of people. The blog owner chooses the topics of entries on the blog, and controls who can read and comment on these entries. Although people can comment on entries, this is not the main focus of the blog, and it is possible for the blog owner to create private entries which cannot be viewed by anyone else. Because the blog owner has complete control over what appears on their blog, the blog can form a personalised reflection of the work, interests and ideas of one individual.

* Forums are not controlled by one person - instead, any member of the forum can start a topic for discussion. Forums rely on responses from the community to initial posts in order to form a discussion, reflecting the interests of the group rather than of an individual.
Regards,
R.Kamalakannan.

Hi,
The blog software is intended to allow users to post their own blogs and write about their life, their passions, or whatever they care to write about. Users can post comments on other users' blogs, but blogs are not generally used as a discussion area. An example of blogging communities can be found in MySpace.com, BlogSpot.com, etc.

The forums are a different aspect altogether. While blogs focus on the writer of a particular blog, the forums are an avenue for discussion, debate, tutoring, questions, job postings, anything, in an environment where a multi-sided conversation is carried out.

Hi Raj,

The main difference can be found in the interactivity. In forums everybody has the power to control the communication, but in blogs usually the blogger direct the dialogue.

R.Kamalakannan.
