1.Application of Technical Methods (Employing proper methods and tools for developing software)
2.Conduct of Formal Technical Review (FTR)
3.Testing of Software
4.Enforcement of Standards (Customer imposed standards or management imposed standards)
5.Control of Change (Assess the need for change, document the change)
6.Measurement (Software Metrics to measure the quality, quantifiable)
7.Records Keeping and Recording (Documentation, reviewed, change control etc. i.e. benefits of docs).

Quality Assurance means taking care of following Quality attributes

Correctness—the degree to which the system performs its intended function
Reliability—the degree to which the software is expected to perform its required functions under stated conditions for a stated period of time
Usability—relates to the degree of effort needed to learn, operate, prepare input, and interpret output of the software
Integrity—relates to the system’s ability to withstand both intentional and accidental attacks
Portability—relates to the ability of the software to be transferred from one environment to another
Maintainability—the effort needed to make changes in the software
Interoperability—the effort needed to link or couple one system to another.

Quality assurance applies to all forms of products and services. This introduced the rules: "fit for purpose" and "do it right the first time". It includes the regulation of the quality of raw materials, assemblies, products and components; services related to production; and management, production, and inspection processes.

Activities in Quality Assurance are

Failure testing
A valuable process to perform on a whole consumer product is failure testing, the operation of a product until it fails, often under stresses such as increasing vibration, temperature and humidity

Statistical control
Many organizations use statistical process control to bring the organization to Six Sigma levels of quality, in other words, so that the likelihood of an unexpected failure is confined to six standard deviations on the normal distribution.

Total quality control
Deep Analysis of quality assurance practices and premisses used about them is the most necessary inspection control of all in cases where, despite statistical quality control techniques or quality improvements implemented, sales decrease.
