Default Duplicate Content

What constitutes duplicate content?

I am doing press releases and articles on my website. If I add either to my site and then distribute the articles to the various article website doesn't that make all the article content now duplicate content? And if so does the link building outweigh the negative of the duplicate content.

Same might be true of posting the articles to a Blog and also distributing the articles.

I would love to hear any thoughts on this.

I think that when you just copy someone’s sentence from another site, that can be consider as a duplicate content. You must translate the sentence on your own words.

I've wondered about this before too as I have been writing CD and book reviews on my blog and still want to be able to use the articles elsewhere to try to build up backlinks. As far as I know this isn't what is usually meant by duplicate content but I'm not confident enough to tell you that 100% for sure. Sorry.

I don't really think it is called as duplicate content until and unless it is copied from some other article. I feel you can build up backlinks to your articles and this wouldn't really mean as duplicate.

Also, check out the other sites you're giving articles too. Different sites will have different policies but if you're writing substantially for your own blog and know it's okay to copy and paste it somewhere else than definitely go for it if allowed. Duplicate content is really more about plagiarizing as far as I know so if it's your own work entirely than you're probably all right.

I think there are some articles written for some sites like goarticles.com etc.... which are free to be used for your own blogs. I am not sure if that is also called duplicate or no.

I heard of those sites that allows you to used their article on your own website. Aside from GoArticle which you have already mentioned I will a site that is selling articles to website owners, one such site is Constant Content. I believe that having duplicate content is allowed only if the original author allowed it.

I heard of Constant Content, I even wrote an article for it but it took long in fact very long time to accept this article or approve this article. But still it is a very good site. One more is Articlehub.

I haven't heard of Articlehub before but I think that it would be worth it to visit the site. Can you sell your articles on it too like ConstantContent?

There really are a tonne of these kind of sites and they can be really useful and provide a little extra income as long as you carefully read what they consider to be duplicate content. If you're already writing for yourself it's worth re-using your articles elsewhere but different sites have different policies on doing this kind of thing.

I'm going to check out a few of the ones posted on here.

Well said RFL, I would rather prefer to write some small articles for my own blog or site rather than using articles from these free article sites, some content wouldn't be so relevant to our blogs or sites so it is hard to find any.

Very true. I believe that anyone who is truly serious about getting their website or blog up and running can take the time to do their own writing. If if it isn't the best writing in the world it's still much better than just having something generic that is taken from elsewhere.
