Default CON Folder in Windows

CON Folder in Windows

Here is a small trick you can use to impress your friends

Ask them to make a folder in and drive names 'CON', they wont be able to create is ("com1" "lpt1" "com2" ... it shouldn't work either!)

Now here is how you can do it

To make it in C:> type "mkdir \\.\c:\con"

To remove the folder, type "rmdir \\.\c:\con"

Easy... Isnt it?

CON Folder in Windows

Con is a reserved system device. So you can't name a folder that. The same applies to other reserved system device names as well, like LPT1, COM1, and the like. and also

you cannot name folders as aux, prn and nul as well. Althugh not too sure but they look like reserved filenames or system filenames.
