| What Do You Do About The Blue Screen of Death? ============================================== Every once in a while I get a blue screen of death that reads: Quote:
the answer is I could not. This information flashed on the screen faster than a speed reader could read. It was only after several unsuccessful attempts at grabbing a digital camera, turning off the automatic flash, and taking a snapshot was I able to get a record of this information. Then I uploaded the image and did some image processing to remove the blur and the glare to a point where I could read what I thought was displayed. First of all, I have checked and I have more than adaquate disk space. Almost one third of the hard drive is free. Has anyone had any experience with such an error and can offer any advice? The computer crashes at random times. Sometimes right away and sometimes the computer stays alive all day. All this started about two weeks ago. The computer was acting strangly just before all this happened. I was trying to run an installed game that required that I have the CD put into the CD drive. The game would not run because it said I did not have enough memory, but I had more than enough memory. While investigating this problem and running anti-virus programs is when this current Blue Screen of Death error occurred. I do not think the game caused the problem but only uncovered what was going to happen anyway. I was told that I needed to cleam my registry. I first ran two commercial registry cleaners on my system: AMUST Registry Cleaner (AMUST Software) Registry Mechanic (Registry Mechanic - Registry Cleaner, Free Registry Repair Software) And I still got the Blue Screen. What is wierd is that they both found more then one hundred errors but they seemed to each find a different set of problems. Then I tried a freeware registry fixer called "Free Window Registry Repair" (Free Window Registry Repair: a windows registry repair freeware. ) and it was awesome. It found and fixed over one thousand registry problems. I also found and ran a registry defrag software "Auslogics Registry Defrag" I also ran CCleaner registry scanner and it found over 100 more things to fix. I was hopeful. But, the Blue Screen came back eventually. Also, sometimes the error message was a little different. Sometimes it said something on the top of the screen like: Quote:

I need my computer to be up and running. I am open to any advice. Another advice I have found while searching for an answer is to re-install my ATI drivers. What are ATI drivers? |
