| I don't get it. IE7's tab browsing is easier to use. You have closer close button and closer new tab button. And you have cool stuff like these: You can open all links in one favorite folder to tabs all at once. You can put any search provider in the search bar. ActiveX support. A more obvious way to show your that a content has been blocked. I don't think FireFox has those. And FireFox is kind of messed up IMO. Like I uploaded a picture onto my website. A very simple HTML code. IE7 shows it fine, but on FireFox, there is one picture not appearing on the page. And when I try to load the image directly, the FireFox found it. Worst of all, there is no little red cross, so I can't right click to refresh it and other users have no idea there is an image. And refresh the whole page won't work either. What makes people prefer FireFox? Usually I have more problems developing web page on FireFox than IE7. |

| Hi Prasanna, From what I have seen the IE rendering engine is much more forgiving to invalid and incorrect html and render it much better than FireFox. This is not to be considered as a good thing. The forgiveness of invalid HTML/CSS in IE is a "feature" and FireFox is following the standard much better. I use IE but I like FireFox too. I wish web-developers got better at writing proper HTML and CSS so the webbrowsers could follow the standards when they render a page. How to write and render HTML/CSS is defined by W3C: World Wide Web Consortium If you are a web-developer you would know the standards by heart. If something does not work as specified in the standard in a browser you would complain on that browser instead of having to write detection code what browser the user is using and adapt to it. Personally I have not found any reason to use FireFox over IE, even due to security reasons. I have not feelt more at risk using any of those browsers. |

| I think it would be mean not to mention the features that were developed for Firefox long before MS developed them for IE7. If you look at the relative primitiveness of IE6 when compared to the equivalent Firefox browsers for the same period it is easy to understand why many people have an affinity or preference for Firefox. Most of the people I know that use Firefox believe that the features of IE7 are directly copied from Firefox and are sticking with Firefox because of loyalty. I use both, and I can happily say that they both poop all over the 1993 version of Mosaic... ![]() |

| Yes you are right hamesy, Firefox is far more better that IE. Firefox is far more configurable and in many peoples minds (60+% of my Computer Engineering class) is far more secure. Firefox supports many different Add-ons to enhance a users experience that IE7 just doesn't have. In addtion Firefox doesn't allow activeX scripts to be executed, which helps prevent security compromises. There is actually a add-on to FireFox to use the IE rendering engine with in Firefox to display pages; just in case a web site doesn't follow the W3 standards or needs activeX. |

| Hi there, I have some points for this discussion. First, the Security point of view:----->>The majority of these spyware and vulnerabilities are commonly programmed for Internet Explorer being that IE holds over 70% of the internet browser market. There are other browsers out there that can compete with IE, but Mozilla Firefox (formally known as Firebird) is a complete browser filled with tons of features that only light in size. From a built in pop-up blocker that works better than many commercial pop-up blockers, to tabbed browsing, these are just two of the factors that contribute to making Firefox an internet browser dream. Second:---->> Popup Blocking In this day in age, an internet browser without a popup blocker is like having a broadband connection without a fireball. Firefox stops annoying popup windows dead in their tracks, according to Mozilla.org, and that exactly what it does. Visiting a popup blocker test page, Firefox built in popup blocker was able to close all popup windows while the page loaded and during the page's onload() event. At Popup blocker free pop-up ad killer test page, several test can be ran to prove your popup blocker power. Mozilla Firefox built in popup blocker was able to handle the Stress Test, which according to pop-upblocker.info[Stress tests] attempts to overcome your pop-up killer by trying to spawn large numbers of windows as quickly as possible.Firefox popup blocker was able to close all 200 popup windows without even breaking a sweat. Trying this with IE and no popup blocker would probably bring your pc to its knee. You can also easily access the list of websites that the popup blocker blocks and altering it state by a simple click. Third ownload ManagerA feature which I thought was going to be integrated in Internet Explorer 6 was a download manager. Download managers allow you to manipulate and take control of your downloaded files. Mozilla Firefox download manager contains just the essentials to allow you to control your downloads. You can pause your download and continue it a later time, something which is not possible with IE download manager. Apart from sporting a nice look, the download manager stores the information such as size and location of your downloaded file. When the download is complete, a small notification is displayed in the lower right side of the screen. Four:-->> Keeps HTML Formatting Mozilla Firefox is able to keep the html format when copying from a webpage to a text file. For example, when copying html formatted text from a webpage and pasting it on a note pad, the text copied using Mozilla Firefox keeps the format yet the text copied from IE doesnt. There are many many more features in FireFox which makes FireFox Coooooooool than Internet Explorer. I myself use Internet Explorer 7 and Firefor both. Yeah, now a days I am on Safari, its nice for its browsing Speed, lightning speed. I run many websites and I make them compatible with FireFox and Internet explorer 7.

| People like firefox....but web developers dont like FF....because many issues while developing web pages Javascript Error ,CSS changes for both IE and FF.Because most DOM objects are supported by IE not FF. ![]() |

| I'm a developer and never had any problems with FF. Like I've said before IE is to forgiving when it comes to poor coding. FF is only following standards in terms of rendering and if developers are to sloppy to follow standards then that is their problem. The way I see it, develop to FF and it will work perfect in IE. |
| |||
| Need to write different CSS for both FF and IE...otherwise it will produce different layout(page is not unique in FF and IE) |
| |||
| Yes you right hamesy, Most of the developers feel sloppy to follow the standards. That's why most of the developers always say horry to IE. I hate IE, I will give you a illustration for this. I am windows mobile developer. I am using VS-2005 and Windows mobile 5.0 SDK for mobile application Development. When I update my IE browser to IE version 7. After that upgradation , I cant able to Create Smart Device VC++ Application Project. I aM searching for the reason for a long time to fix this issue. But i don't know why its happen. After a while i come to know this a problem with IE7. In a forum they said add a Registry value . it will be work fine. See all the hectic because of IE 7. Hell... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| I agree, IE is hell but FF is not heaven. There are a few things I would change, but thats down to my own personal browsing style. In regarding to the memory, this is your answer kingmaker: Quote:

| Hi all, I’m still a dedicated Firefox user. While 2.0 is a conservative release, the product does a better job delivering on core ease of use and functionality: its an easy recommendation. Despite being a browser designer, I have mostly simple browser needs, and would recommend FF to just about anyone. If you factor in the vibrancy of their add-on community, it’s also a winning choice for power users.

| Hi All, Very Interesting, FF 2.0 is really good at the same time IE7 is much improved - but visual design mis-steps, some awkward design choices, and lack of any compelling feature advantage makes it impossible to recommend it to anyone currently using Firefox. I’d recommend the upgrade to any IE6 user for the security improvements alone, but also for the benefits of tabs. |

| In general I’m left hoping hoping that both camps have their eyes on what browser user experiences could and should be like. There’s so much more user experience ground browsers need to cover. Lets hope IE8 and FF 3.0 build on their current foundations and take up the charge. |

![]() People have a general tendency to dislike the winner. But there are some advantages of Firefox over IE. But all those IE is totally slow thing is just a myth. Properly installed and configured, I get the very same speed of firefox for all pages on IE too... |
